The November 2024 welcome message from the AMWS Chairman,
Mr David Parmeter
Mr David Parmeter
Hello everyone, and welcome to the November 2024 edition of the AMWS electronic newsletter.
Recently I received an unsolicited letter from the national body of one of the faith based welfare providers we support. I would like to quote from the letter to make the point about the importance of the work we do at AMWS and the impact it has.
The letter states in part:
“I extend our heatfelt gratitude to….Australian Mariners Welfare Society for your generous support through grant funding. Your contributions make an invaluable difference to the lives of seafarers and to our ability to serve them effectively…..Your ongoing dedication to improving their welfare underscores the proud commitment of the Australian Mariners Welfare Society to this vital community……Your generosity and foresight are deeply valued and inspire us to continue our mission of supporting the needs of seafarers in every port we operate…”
In the light of these very kind remarks, I want to emphasise to all AMWS members and supporters that the work we do is important and is greatly appreciated by everyone we assist. AMWS makes a difference and while there are seafarers on ships we will always be working for the cause of seafarer welfare.
In that regard I wish to thank everyone involved with AMWS for their efforts during the year, particularly the Councillors and Chris Green the editor of this newsletter.
I wish you all and your families a safe and enjoyable Christmas and I look forward to catching up with you in the new year.
